Institute of Horticulture Technology (IHT) is organizing ‘Horti India 2017’ on 9th and 10th February, 2017 at Horticulture Technology Park, Greater Noida NCR. ‘Horti India 2017’ is a Workshop cum Exhibition event focused on “Conventional and Alternative Horticultural Production Systems”. The event is being co-organized by Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India.
IHT has been successfully organizing capacity building programmes in Hi-Tech Horticulture of varying durations since 2009 and events such as ‘Horti India’ since 2012. The earlier events were inaugurated by Governors, Union/State Ministers and Secretaries to Government of India and attended by policy planners, entrepreneurs, participants from corporate sectors and farmers across different states and union territories of India. These events were well received and attracted a wide coverage in National Newspapers and TV channels through popular programmes like Krishi Darshan.
‘Horti India 2017’ is going to be an event of international stature focused on live demonstration of latest Horticultural technologies, providing opportunity for hands on training and interaction with national and international experts. Technical sessions covering lectures and hands on training on Hi-Tech horticulture i.e. Innovative technologies in Nursery production- vegetables and herbs, flowers and ornamentals, forest plant saplings, medicinal and aromatic plants; Protected cultivation- vegetables, ornamental plants and cut flowers, Hydroponics, Precision farming, Micro irrigation, Fertilizers and Chemicals, Canopy management, Use of plastics,Integrated pest management (IPM) and interactive lectures on emerging areas like Organic farming,Peri urban and urban horticulture and Nanotechnologies etc. will be organized. International flower arrangement experts will display and provide hands on trainings in different flower arrangements, this will be especially beneficial for professional florists and floriculturists.
National and international exhibitors are expected to exhibit various Agri/Horti products and technologies to the farmers, policy planners and other participants. Different departments of Ministries of Government of India and State Governments will also showcase their achievements and schemes meant for welfare of farmers. Horticulture input companies from India and abroad will demonstrate their products in the exhibition.
‘Horti India 2017’ aims at acquaintingthe farmers, extension officials, entrepreneurs and other stakeholders with the benefits of new technologies to enhance productivity and profitability of horticultural crops.
Like previous events, international experts from several countries (France, Israel, Japan Netherlands and Thailand) will attend the event and share their expertise in horticulture with farmers and other visitors through interactive lectures and trainings. There is a provision of a Hindi translator.
All of this makes ‘Horti India 2017’ an event not to be missed by farmers, horticulture officials from states and private organizations and horticultural crop growers as well as other stakeholders.
A large variety of saplings of flowers will be on display and available for sale.
